Oceans
We walk along the water side.
Quietly.
I find myself questioning if it’s the thick summer air,
Or the conversation that is making the world around
us feel so heavy.
I try to make light of things.
I bump my shoulder into yours.
Smiling.
You follow my pace.
We do this for a while.
Chuckling softly like kids along the way.
The hurt is still covering the sky,
And our eyes still resemble the ocean we’ve resided
in all this time.
But we both know.
We know the feelings we feel are still calm waters.
That there is an undeniable amount of love here.
That no matter what,
You’re safe with me,
As am I with you.
